Core subjects

The core subjects of the programme provide a methodological and theoretical input and are offered in the form of online courses that deal with some of the most important methods of legal research. These courses allow students to gain insight into the main purpose of doctorate education, i.e. the competence to understand and apply different ways of thinking and doing research in the field of legal studies beyond the knowledge acquired about a specific topic of research. The courses offer a practical approach to the study of these methods that focuses on their practical application to the research of PhD candidates, including:

  • Interdisciplinary methods of legal research
  • Doctrinal methods of legal research
  • Research methods in International Law
  • Research methods in EU Law
