Most of the online courses described above are supplemented with face-to-face practical learning and training units embedded in Intensive Study Programmes (ISPs) that take place once a year. Following a blended learning approach, the face-to-face ISPs help consolidate the learning goals of the online courses through practical learning. During the ISPs, PhD candidates from the partner universities participate in a variety of activating seminars and present their projects to and receive feedback from an audience of professors and peers. These activities encompass, for instance, face-to-face training in legal research methods, advanced legal English, intercultural communication, public presentation and debate, academic ethics, and research project management skills.
